RAYONG INFORMATION

Rayong Province is famous among tourists for its interesting destinations and exciting activities. Until recently, the province was a popular destination with Thais but, increasing, new projects are coming on stream are there has been a huge exodus, especially from the Scandanavians from Pattaya to Rayong.

An incredibly strong Nordic property boom is taking hold and most of the Scandinavian developers have set up joint ventures with local partners to develop residential projects. Some of them have bought condominiums developed by Thai developers and resold these to Scandinavian buyers.

It must be said that Rayong is a very peaceful place to live, with pristine beaches and coves.

Some of the more popular destinations are:

Mae Rumphueng Beach
The beach, some 10 kilometres long, is located between Ban Tapong and Ban Kon Ao. This is a particularly beautiful spot with a headland forming a magnificent backdrop to a crescent shaped bay with broad sandy beaches which are ideal for swimming.

Ban Phe
Ban Phe is a busy fishing port and the centre of local marine produce, characterised by narrow streets of shops and houses. It is a stopping off points for tourists en route to the island of Ko Samet. Boats leave regularly for the island from the piers.

Laem Mae Phim
On the coastal road between Ban Phe and Klaeng, is Laem Mae Phim. This is a popular beach attracts Thai tourists. There are many bungalows for rent at the site and along the roadside there are vendors selling a wide range of product. Such as fruits, coconuts, fried squid and skeweres oysters, Boats can be hired to visit the nearby Ko Mun island group.

Rayong is located on the east coast of Thailand, about 220 kilometres from Bangkok. The total area is 3,552 square kilometres. Most of the land is marked by a series of mountains interspersed by flat plains and large tracts of forest and fruit plantation.
